Dear Market Participant

SONI has issued a system alert due to current system conditions in Northern Ireland.

The alert, is at Amber Alert 1; the lowest level.  The alert has been raised due to the unplanned outage of a power station in Northern Ireland, along with low levels of renewables  (in Northern Ireland), in addition, cold weather in GB is driving exports from the island to England, Scotland and Wales.

While there is a sufficient  wind generation in the Republic of Ireland today (>1500MW), limitations on the maximum amount of energy SONI can import across the border means that we cannot access it.

If system conditions remain unchanged and margins do not reduce further, SONI expect to remove the System Alert by around 19:00hrs

Kind regards,
SEMO Team
