By way of update, the transfer of excess REGOs between sister companies in NI to ROI will not be allowed going forward due to the EU decision not to accept REGOs. The transfer of excess EU GOs between sister companies in ROI to NI are still accepted. However, this acceptance is subject to the BEIS and DfE consultation outcomes - which could potentially come into effect before the FMD 2022 deadline.

This only applies to suppliers with branches in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland where the 'final adjustment of residual demand' section of the fuel mix disclosure calculation applies. The process here involves the transfer of excess energy attributes, should they exist, from one branch of a supplier in one jurisdiction to another branch of that same supplier in the other jurisdiction.
