To Northern Irish Suppliers participants in Fuel Mix Disclosure,

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) made a decision in 2022 to no longer recognise EU Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) from 1 April 2023 for GB. However, the decision on the recognition of EU GoOs in Northern Ireland (NI) falls to the NI Executive. On 8th July 2023, the Department for the Economy (DfE) published a consultation titled 'Revocation of EU Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) & Combined Heat & Power GoOs'. The consultation invited views from stakeholders on how the revocation of EU GoOs might affect generators, suppliers and consumers within Northern Ireland. A decision on the matter has not been arrived at yet.

Until a decision is made, the current arrangements will continue to apply for Northern Ireland  (i.e. EU GoOs will continue to be recognised in NI).
